List files between dates

Observations: The touch trick where you create two empty files to use the -newer option does not work for me, once the user roles that I have on the server does not allow me to create files. I need to find between specific dates, not days like: files that were created more than 30 days ago, etc Add a comment. Active Oldest Votes. If you use GNU find , since version 4. Another example - list files modified between and on Nov 6 find -newermt " "!

The reference argument is normally the name of a file and one of its timestamps is used for the comparison but it may also be a string describing an absolute time. X and Y are placeholders for other letters, and these letters select which time belonging to how reference is used for the comparison. Some combinations are not implemented on all systems; for example B is not supported on all systems.

If an invalid or unsupported combination of XY is specified, a fatal error results. Time specifications are interpreted as for the argument to the -d option of GNU date. If you try to use the birth time of a reference file, and the birth time cannot be determined, a fatal error message results. If you specify a test which refers to the birth time of files being examined, this test will fail for any files where the birth time is unknown. Anyone knows how to sort the resulting list on the time?

Koshmaar Depending on the situation, you can use something like find Koshmaar This won't work if there are too many files though as the exec commands will start being split. In that case you'd need to use something like find I think one should use -Btime or -newerBt instead, strictly for creation time, while c is for file changes — ArcherEX. This works for me. Some good solutions on here. Wanted to share mine as well as it is short and simple.

No box appears on the right of the screen. Click on 'Date modified' and you are offered only five specific choices - none of which extend to cover the period I want. Again, no box appears on the right of the screen. I'm interested in a specific month in Any further suggestions? This thread is locked. In reply to A. User's post on November 6, Someone please answer the question: How do I do a file modified date range search in Windows 10?

Marilyn Z. I typed a short doc in word this morning and may not have saved it. Tried to find the file by date and maybe put the date in a wrong format. I do not get the files I wrote today. However, the file names will not have full path names, they are printed folder by folder. So you can make out which folder a file belongs to.

Hello Sean, you were correct. I have updated the post reflecting this. Has anyone had a solution for this question? I have the exact same question but have no idea how old this post is or if it is still alive. Is there a way i can compare file modified time with system time and perform any operation based on it. Lets say, if file modified time is less then system date by 20 minutes, file should be copied to some location. But I wanna know how to load files according to Created date. Any help would be very appreciated.

I need to delete the file based on another file. For example. Hi Need a batch script which will copy the path of the latest file in the specified folder and copy the path in a text file the path and the file name of the text file will be constatnt. Can someone please help me as soon as possible.. Thank you! I have some database. Every day the backup happens and sometimes it fails also. I need to delete the old backup files leaving the latest one. Can you please help me with a batch script?

All remaining files have to move. Suppose I have a list of text of xml files in a directory, how do I find out the oldest file among them? And I want to get the timestamp of that oldest file.
